PSJC Mission

To sustain a Jewish community dedicated to cherishing and renewing our tradition through religious growth, prayer, good works, and a commitment to take care of one another.

Guiding Principles

  • 1.

We are an egalitarian Conservative liberal Jewish congregation, actively welcoming Jews of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, affiliations, family structures, sexual orientations and gender identities.

  • 2.

Our services are grounded in traditional liturgy and familiar melodies, complemented by contemporary forms of religious expression. Our goal is to make the synagogue accessible and comfortable to people who have varying degrees of familiarity with traditional prayer.

  • 3.

Members take collective responsibility for organizing and participating in ritual, social and business activities of the synagogue. All are invited to participate in leading services, reading Torah and Haftorah, and teaching within the congregation.

  • 4.

We are committed to Jewish learning and study.

  • 5.

PSJC supports the existence of the State of Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. We encourage education about, and constructive engagement with, Israel.

  • 6.

We seek to support and connect with our members throughout the life cycle, including providing meaningful programming for children and families, adults and seniors.

  • 7.

Our community seeks to serve as a powerful, relevant model for Jewish life, both religious and cultural, and we are committed to reaching out to welcome an ever-widening circle of Jews to join us.
