Song Notes

High Holiday Music

We are pleased to share these songs and melodies with you in the hopes of enhancing your experience of the Days of Awe (Yamim Noraim). They include old favorites and new melodies for our community. We look forward to singing these and many other songs with you on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We hope that this music will help you experience the spirited, participatory, inspiring davening that has been a hallmark of High Holy Days at PSJC.

In what follows, Cantor Ribnick shares a treasure trove of music she has found to enhance our prayers on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We encourage you to check out the sound files, below, to hear many melodies from the High Holy Days that we’ve sung together over the years, along with new ones. All of the songs here either are recorded by Cantor Judy Ribnick or linked to publicly available performer sites. You can either click and listen through your browser, or right-click and save the MP3 files to your computer or other device. Song links are indicated by underlined blue-colored text.  Commentary and explanations for the melodies were written by Rabbi Carie Carter and Elizabeth Schnur.
