Programs for Teens

In addition to our Tween and Teen services on the High Holy Days, there are a number of ways for the teens in our community to get involved.  Some are social, some are educational, and some are both! Our youth programming is open to both members and non-members of the PSJC community, so invite your friends!  Click or scroll below for details on our youth group events and regional partnerships. For information on our educational opportunities for teens, including our Madrichim Team (teen assistants in the Hebrew School) and Gesher Program (for 8 - 12th graders), click here!

PSJC TEEN PROGRAMMING is coordinated by our youth and teen coordinator and our teens. These events include Teen Shabbat dinners, middle school movie nights, bowling, ice cream, and more.

PSJC TEEN SHABBAT DINNERS  Welcome Shabbat with your friends at PSJC! Take a break from texting, Instagram and busy days, and relax over challah, grape juice, and a tasty meal. We're always looking for hosts for these dinners, so email teens@psjc.org if you have room for a group of teens at your table or on your living room floor for a picnic!

Affiliated Community Teen Programs

BBYO is an unaffiliated international youth group that has chapters throughout New York City and all over the world. PSJC hosts Mellech BBYO Chapter meetings weekly on Thursdays at 6:30PM.

METNY USY programming is for 9th -12th graders. As a synagogue affiliated with the Conservative Movement, we are a part of a collective of synagogues throughout the NY Metro area, both for adult and teen programming. In order to attend regional events, teens must be paid members of USY ($36 dues) and we can sign you up through the office. Many of the programs for USY Teens at PSJC and with our partners in the neighborhood are open to 8th graders as well.

KADIMA programming is for 6th - 8th graders. Join your friends at PSJC and bring your friends from the neighborhood for ice cream sundaes, holiday parties, movie nights, and more. Kadima is also the name of regional events for middle school students as well!

A number of PSJC teens participate in the Brooklyn Chapter of the HaZamir Youth Choir. For more information you can visit their website or email PSJC member, Freddie Brooks.  Rehearsals are Sundays, 2:30PM - 4:30PM at Congregation Beth Elohim, 274 Garfield Place.
