Refugee Shabbat February 10!
In partnership with HIAS, we will dedicate Shabbat learning to expanding our understanding of Jewish insights regarding refugees and the current context.
On Shabbat, February 10 at PSJC:
During Shabbat morning services, our Rabbinic Fellow Talia Kaplan will give a d'var Torah in which she will frame issues of refugee resettlement through the lens of the week's Torah portion, Mishpatim.
At 1:00 PM, Merrill Zack, HIAS Vice-President for Community Engagement and Executive Director of HIAS NY will join us in-person to provide an update on the
evolving landscape for refugees and asylum seekers, current advocacy priorities, and how PSJC members can help advance these priorities and the wellbeing of migrants in our community and beyond.
We will also be joined by Rebecca Press, Senior Counsel at Central American Legal Assistance and Co-Founder of Co-Counsel NYC. Rebecca has worked with NYC's immigrant communities for over two decades and will be able to answer questions about the situation of migrants in New York City and legal service providers' responses to their legal needs.
This event is open to the community; please invite friends and neighbors interested in immigration and refugee issues. Contact Laura Wolff (laurarscf@aol.com) and
Rachel Danzing (rachdanzing@yahoo.com) with any questions.

A harsh winter caused significant damage to my brick chimney, with loose bricks and leaking that I could no longer ignore. In the middle of my research, https://automaticmasonry.com/chimney-repair-rebuilds/ became the resource that stood out. Automatic Masonry offers expert chimney repair and rebuild services, including tuckpointing, crown replacement, flue repairs, and full reconstructions while preserving the home’s character. Customers often say the crew was respectful, efficient, and delivered strong, attractive results that restored both function and curb appeal.
This post highlights a meaningful approach to learning and action around refugee issues, especially how Shabbat discussions connect Torah values with real-world advocacy. While I was working in a corporate office Jeddah, I often saw how conversations around migration and work visas shaped everyday workplace discussions, which made these themes feel closer to me. It reinforces how justice-centered learning influence how we see people’s movement and dignity in different settings.
Your article was a great read. The writing style felt natural, and the information was explained in a straightforward manner. While researching academic resources recently, I also looked into 10th Class Result 2026 info to stay updated on announcements and result-related news. Posts like yours make it easier for students and families to find the information they need. Excellent work!
I enjoyed reading about this event and its focus on understanding refugee and immigration issues through learning and community discussion. While helping with a research project on public policy and decision-making, I came across Forensic Delay Analysis and found it interesting how careful review of timelines can reveal important context behind complex situations. It reminded me that meaningful conversations are often stronger when they are grounded in facts, history, and a willingness to learn from different perspectives.
I found https://www.nursingpaper.com/writers/ super useful when I needed a nursing research paper done right. The platform lets you see who’s writing your paper — actual professional nursing experts. My writer was detailed, followed every instruction, and even formatted it in APA. The transparency and communication were great. It’s nice to know you’re working with someone who understands the subject instead of a random freelancer.
