About the Event

Whether you're a little afraid of poems or an avid reader of them, you will enjoy this conversation about how to make reading poetry more pleasurable and rewarding. We'll look together at a few recent poems by a range of authors and think about what makes a poem a poem.  Poems will be posted on the screen share when we meet.  David Mikics is the author of Slow Reading in a Hurried Age, Bellow's People and other books. He is a columnist for Tablet magazine and a professor at the University of Houston, though he is mostly in Brooklyn these days.
