In March 1979, following the Camp David meetings, Israel and Egypt signed a peace treaty, the first ever between Israel and an Arab state. To commemorate that important milestone in Israel’s history, PSJC member Joseph Braude, will discuss new initiatives which are contributing to normalization of relations between Israel and some Arab States. Joseph is the founder and president of the Center for Peace Communication, which is working on a wide variety of initiatives to shift the paradigm of Israel’s relationship to other countries in the Middle East. In its first year, the Center has already begun to sow the seeds for a new agenda for Arab-Israeli friendship and cooperation.

Joseph studied Near Eastern languages at Yale and Arabic and Islamic history at Princeton. He is fluent in Arabic, Hebrew and Persian. Over the past 20 years, he has lived and worked in North Africa, the Levant, the Gulf States and Iran. A prolific author, his most recent book is Reclamation: A Cultural Policy for Arab-Israeli Partnership.
