We look forward to celebrating the High Holy Days in person and on Zoom!

The High Holy Days come early in 2021 - Rosh Hashanah begins on the evening of Labor Day, Monday September 6th and Yom Kippur starts with Kol Nidre, on the evening of Wednesday, September 15th. We begin our formal introduction to the Yamim Noraim (Days of Awe) even earlier, with the community-wide Selichot service on the evening of Saturday, August 28, a beautiful service that features Rabbis and Cantors from our many congregations coming together to provide a moving, meaningful and musical experience.

We have worked carefully with our Covid Advisory Committee, the staff, and the Avodah Committee to create a plan that allows us to come together safely as a community, to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend, and to give people choices about how to participate.

We ask that everyone register in advance and upload proof of vaccination if there is any chance you might like to spend a portion of the service indoors.

Please be aware that we have updated our vaccination policy to be more in line with NYC’s latest guidelines: the option of presenting a negative Covid test is now only open to those under age 12 and those who are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons; all others must show proof of vaccination to attend services indoors.

Based on early registration numbers, we have decided to limit in-person attendance to members and their guests. Non-members are invited to join free via Zoom and in-person at our free Community Kol Nidre Service. We invite you to become a member of PSJC today to take advantage of on-site services. We have a pay-what-you-can policy at PSJC, and we are happy to expedite the process so that you can join us for the holidays. Passes for guests of members is $350 per person. Please note: if you apply for membership 9/3 and beyond, we will process your membership following the High Holy Days. However, you are welcome to attend on-site services, and the Member table will have your information. Introduce yourself as a new member. We ask that you fill out this form to gain access to the Zoom links.

Ways to participate:

In the Sanctuary

  • This will be our traditional service with normal Shabbat-style seating in our beautiful space. To attend in the sanctuary, please provide proof of vaccination (see FAQ for more details). Masks will be required for everyone indoors.

In the Yard

  • We will simulcast most services to the yard, with lay leaders serving as facilitators. Masks are optional for fully vaccinated people outdoors and required for those who are unvaccinated.

On Zoom

  • Participate through Zoom or stream the services on Streamspot.

Family and Youth Programming

  • Special services for children and families will take place in the yard at times when the main service is not taking place.

Additional programs will include our community-wide Selichot service on August 28, our free Community Kol Nidrei service in the lower sanctuary (see below for more information), Community Picnic and Tashlich at the Prospect Park Lake, Shofar on the Stoop(s), and more!

Free community Kol Nidre service

We continue our tradition of hosting a free community Kol Nidre Service, open to all who are vaccinated or have had a negative test within 72 hours of the service. Registration opens August 25th.
